Pallikkoodam Malayalam School

Aligned with KACTUS’ mission to preserve Kerala’s rich cultural heritage, the Pallikkoodam Malayalam School empowers volunteers to ensure that future generations develop a strong foundation in the Malayalam language. This initiative also aims to foster meaningful community engagement among youth, encouraging active participation in social and cultural events held throughout the year. Moreover, the program helps bridge potential language gaps with extended family members in Kerala and across India. By gaining proficiency in Malayalam, students also gain access to a vast world of literature, media, and entertainment, deepening their connection to their heritage and broadening their cultural horizons.

Pallikkoodam has been an integral part of KACTUS since its inception, guiding generations of students through the fundamentals of Malayalam reading and writing. In 2023, Pallikkoodam began a partial partnership with the Malayalam Mission project under the Government of Kerala, which aims to promote global awareness of the Malayalam language and its cultural heritage—particularly among children of expatriate Malayalees. In addition, Pallikkoodam continues to collaborate with local language development initiatives to support children who are eager to learn Malayalam and connect more deeply with their cultural roots.

We invite you to join us in celebrating and promoting the rich language and culture of Kerala by enrolling your child or children in Pallikkoodam. Under the dedicated leadership of Thara Kurien, and with the support of volunteers Ashna Murali, Julie Joy, and Sneha Thomas, Pallikkoodam continues to serve as a beacon—reconnecting students with their roots, preserving linguistic diversity, and opening a gateway to Kerala’s vibrant cultural heritage.
